a new perspective

24 hours of EIP is over.

Initially,when i heard that we were suppose to do 24 hours of some sort of program,or some sort of community service or charity program,it was kind of exciting.I thought "cool,a chance to do work and work together and see how it's like doing this charity or community service program for real"but as the time drew nearer for the real EIP thing to be done,I was annoyed,irritated and worried.

firstly,cause I knew that I HAD to do it by the 28th of november cause I'm going to be flying off to aussie on the 29th of november.after that,I was a little bit peeved cause I had to miss tuition just because I had to complete this program.but then,even if i didn't go for the program,I wouldn't have been able to go for tuition as I would be flying off to Aussie.then after that,there was the problem of transportation.

luckily in the end,everything worked out and I'm really glad that I went for the program.okay,before I go on,the EIP i went for,is basically,a program that I did for 6 days(24hours) at St John's cathedral(sorta).It's the feeding program.See,there are many homeless people,drug addicts,old folks,etc people wondering around aimlessly without food or shelter.So (i think) the church has organized this program where they cook food for a certain amount of people every weekday except for public holidays(i think)

anyway,so what we do,is that those of us who volunteered to join this program for 24 hours will help the people in charge to prepare and distribute the food.We basically slice and dice onions garlics,ginger,etc. then we help cut and clean the vegetable and stuff like that. If I'm not mistaken,we always prepare for about 150 people.Sometimes,there isn't enough food and the cook will prepare more.

*the cook is AWESOME I tell you :D

anyway,as easy and boring as this might sound.It was actually really fun.I mean,can you imagine,A bunch of teenagers,gathered together,peeling garlics and onions..some,crying even!(okay,that's from the onions)okay,if that's not so bad still..imagine some of us,who have never stepped in the kitchen before..and everything looks absolutely foreign!

picture this...a group of like...10(maybe) 16 year olds...gathered around a table,slicing garlics as thin as we can,onions as well,ginger in to thin strips.carrots into thin tiny slices cabbages properly washed and cut and talking about some random topics.but wait!!that's what we're TRYING to do.instead,all those end up in different shapes and sizes and the fact that some of the knifes were blunt didn't exactly help either.

but in the end,I think all of us had lots of fun doing it.truth be told,i was a little bit annoyed i couldn't get rid of the smell of onions and garlic from my fingers and when i did,i had to chop more onions,but i have to admit,i really did enjoy doing it in the end.And of course,I wouldn't have enjoyed it had i not been accompanied by friends.

Finally,when the food was prepared and packed into packs,all of us who volunteered there would help bring out the packets of food and drinks etc out to the place to distribute the food.there,you could see people of all kinds.

Tall,short,fat,thin. Old,young,man and woman. some smoking. some talking. mostly,just waiting for the food.then,exactly at 12 noon,the church bell rings and we would distribute the food.I remember passing the packet of food to an old man and his hands were shaking and i felt so sorry for him.but i also remember many of them smoking weed and their breath when asking for the drinks wasn't exactly minty fresh.


At the end of distributing food on the first day I was there,there wasn't enough food to go around.And it was so saddening when this man tapped on my shoulder and asked"nasi?" and i said "sudah habis."luckily,the cook prepared more food later on for those who didn't get the food.

But,it was also a little disturbing when i heard some of them talking.I'm not exactly good with my cantonese but I can understand the simple and basic stuff.While packing the empty boxes and stuff to bring back to the kitchen or the place where we prepared the food,there were a few dudes talking and he was checking us out and comparing us and some other rather embarrassing statements in cantonese.

Anyway,After doing this program,I feel really blessed and grateful with what I have now.I'm grateful that at least I have everything that I need and more.I'm not saying that I don't want anything else,but after what I've seen in the past 6 days,I'm glad that I have a roof over my head and more than enough food to eat.

I know there're many pictures of my friends and I doing this EIP thing but I've never seen any of them anywhere yet.lol.(pssttt...i need them for the report)(okay,i also wanna see them,lol)


other than that,during this 6 day long program,I've had 2 chocolate sundaes,2 waffles,a cup of super sweet soya bean,starbucks caramel cream,chicken rice,sweets and a heavy dose of Aileen.xD

anyway,people that I'd like to thank for this thing being not-dull and fun and etc...is brother carl,brother lawrence,the aunties,the koreans,the uncles the little girl(with naugthy hands lol) and of course..all of my friends.:D

okay,that's it for now.It was an amazing experience.

I'm back :D

I know,I haven't been updated my blog in awhile.I have no excuses really.but here I am,to update it now anyway.

btw,thank you for all the birthday wishes and presents =) it meant a lot to me.

anyway,a few days ago,I had lunch with Joey,Darren and Hanna.It was supposedly,my birthday gathering,according to Hanna(then why did I pay for my lunch one?! lol..jk jk)

After talking a bit at popular,we decided to go have Nandos.We've always wanted to go Nandos,but there was always the "tak cukup masa" problem. So,at long last,we finally had enough time to go eat there.

I don't think I've ever spent so much time in a restaurant talking and listening to so much interesting crap and laughing so much.3 hours of fun and laughter :D:D I'm pretty sure that the people there were giving us weird looks,but I had fun. we talked about the 6 p's,I think.I lost count how many P's there were anyway.

finally ,at about 5pm we left nandos.I'm so looking forward to next thursday next =)

My cousin's second wedding dinner.This was much grander and there were far more people.I mean,there were 41 tables..that means,there were about 410 guests.It's a good thing the place is big and air conditioned.The food was really good.I mean I didn't expect much.but the food was great. but it was really hard to find parking,sadly.We had to walk quite a distance from where we parked.

Anyway,I was feeling annoyed cause I felt so hot,hot meaning panas.yea.it felt horrible.not cause I was drunk.But cause i was feeling so blardy hot and apparently,I can't take a shower cause it'll cause me to have some sort of rash.Adds to the me being annoyed factor.(like I said earlier,I'm wearing shorts)

A lawyer and a Chinese

A lawyer and a Chinese were sitting next to each other on a long flight.The lawyer is thinking that all Chinese are so dumb that he could get over on them, easy.So the lawyer asks if the Chinese would like to play a fun game.

The Chinese is tired and just wants to take a nap, so he politely declines, and tries to catch a few winks. The lawyer persists, and says that the game is a lot of fun. I ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me only $5; you ask me one, and if I don't know the answer, I will pay you $500, he says.

This catches the Chinese's attention and to keep the lawyer quiet, he agrees to play the game. The lawyer asks the first question. 'What's the distance from The Earth to the Moon?' The Chinese doesn't say a word, reaches in his pocket, pulls out a five-dollar bill, and hands it to the lawyer.

Now, it's the Chinese's turn. He asks the lawyer, 'What goes up a hill with three legs, and comes down with four?' The lawyer uses his laptop and searches all references he could find on the Net. He sends e-mails to all the smart friends he knows,all to no avail. After one hour of searching he finally gives up.

He wakes up the Chinese and hands him $500. The Chinese pockets the $500 and goes right back to sleep. The lawyer is going nuts not knowing the answer. He wakes the Chinese up and asks,

'Well, so what goes up a hill with three legs and comes down with four?

...........................................

The Chinese reaches in his pocket, hands the lawyer $5 and goes back to sleep.

see.don't mess with us chinese peopl.we is not dumb. xD

now..if only I can find an idiot like that and do the same trick to him.......

So,yesterday was a fun day,had it not been for the ridiculous history memorizing thing ruining my day(sigh) it would have been awesome. I went for my cousin's wedding dinner! XD Yesterday's was the first one.there's another one next week. Though,truth be told,I don't really know my cousin that well.and well,I'm pretty sure she didn't know me that well either. she called me...."ah ah"..

I slept at 3+ and woke up at 7+ AGAIN!....geez people..lemme sleep. Okay,so,waking up at that time is my fault..but who i the right mind sends me a message that early on a SUNDAY?! hold on...

rephrase!

I didn't think that people will kacau me when I'm sleeping,so it was on loud mode. So, when I got a message at 7+ I was annoyed,but I was touched as well. A friend wished me with Raya greetings.it was a very nice gesture .

Anyway,since it was a Sunday, and a real holiday for me,in the sense that there was no classes to attend. So, my mom,decided we went shopping for clothes! too bad,it was clothes FOR my cousin's wedding lunch. which meant,formal dress. GAH! and since all the shoes I own are sport shoes or sneakers,my mom asked me to get shoes as well.

In the end..after walking for AGES,I walked into a shop,saw a dress,and before I could reach it,my sister took it for me and asked me to try it on. It was the best among the gazillion other dresses that i had to try on(oh,the horror..really). But my shoes on the other hand...I LOVE my shoes! And the best part is...*drum rolls*

I'm Taller Than My Sister When I Wear The Shoes!XD -too bad it's only possible when she's not wearing heels or barefooted

and after shopping,both my sister and i couldn't resist one place.The place..that we ALWAYS go to when we go shopping.A place that we love to go. the bookshop.XD And she got 2 books.

After the shopping,our feet were so sore.I felt like my toes got crushed and my sister was walking funny. To make things worse, I accidentally dropped a brick on my toe.It wasn't from a very high/far distance.but it was high enough to leave me in pain.Luckily for me,my parents didn't hear me cursing out loud when the brick fell on my toe. :D

Anyway, my back's aching,my neck's stiff,I keep sneezing, and I feel like a headache's about to come. It' definitely time for me to go sleep.so,this post shall end here.

oh my dear lovely books.I still have 4 new unread books...tempting..oh so tempting.But I can't read them now. I think it's the first time I didn't read a newly bought book and left it sitting on the shelves in the reading room. And the fact that my sister has read them and said that they were good,fantastic,touching...etc....is making it even more tempting..

I need to stay away from them.

I shall lay my greedy hands on them after October the.......(checks calender) 16th. But if my sister gets a book(s) by Julia Quinn..I'll make an exception xD

bad luck + autopilot mode = disaster

It's been awhile since I last blogged.but here I am now! xD

the day has been horrible for me.with the never ending homework,horrible weather and I just got fired!

yea,obviously I'm not serious..except for the never ending homework part.other than that, the day has been normal. So,what's with the bad luck?

It started when I got back home.I got out from the cab,was about to say "Hi Sparky!" instead I ended up saying "Darn it!"..The first thing was that my dog got loose and was waiting for me to open the gate so it could run out. The second reason..was because I forgot my keys! (pause) Maybe it wasn't all bad.The good thing was that I've forgotten to bring my keys out so many times,I've learnt to climb over the gate. Nevertheless,the gate was hot from the sun and climbing over wasn't so easy.(I had the key to get in the house though)

The next thing that happened..was me loosing my contact lenses.The left side one. All I know was that one moment I was looking at it on my finger tip and the next moment,it was gone. It was the wind from the open window...the wind blew my contacts away..to where? I have yet to know..I've checked all the possible places the wind might have blew it to over and over again.still,can't find it :(

After that,I was hungry and went to prepare lunch..and since I was feeling lazy,I decided "Maggi Mi".halfway through slicing the tomatoes,I smelled blood.Don't ask me how,cause I just did. Looking closely at what I was slicing,I did indeed...slice my finger.just a very little paper thin cut,but the blood didn't seem to stop oozing out. I probably should have been paying more attention to what I was slicing,but I guess I was day dreaming and going on "auto pilot".

Thankfully,after clearing all the mess etc,the final and last thing to add into my lunch was the egg. My stomach was positively grumbling and my mouth...watering.but guess what? the egg just HAD to be rotten.and it was in the tray of newly bought eggs! and before I knew that the egg was rotten,I had already cracked the egg into the soup over the stove.that..was the disaster.Food gone to waste...that was suppose to be my lunch!

Lesson learnt.Next time,I'll just pour hot water into the cup ones instead of cooking it properly.easier,faster and less troublesome.

Alright, as promise,here's a short short short part dedicated a friend.

-She slapped me, for some stupid reason,though it was a playful one.

-She pinched my cheeks so hard,it still hurts.(yea,I'm exaggerating to make her feel guilty)

-She slapped me with a book. (which left me so shocked,I didn't know if I was angry)

-She hits me for no reason. (playfully,but repeatedly at the same spot does hurt)

-She tickles me out of the blue.

-She shakes my hand when she knows I'm writing.

-She accused me of...uh oh.....censored. (mentos incident*shakes head*)

-She chased me around the class for some reason,which I don't remember.

SEE!!it's abuse!!! xD but I know she doesn't mean it,and It mostly makes me laugh even when I try to give the dirty look.

There,I accepted the dare,and carried it out. Gonna come after me? (I'll just run away (= ) and that's also only IF you see this xD

Sigh,holidays are coming to an end.

The Orphan..was disturbing,freaky,and a waste of my money.Though,I have to admit...the girl was a really good actress.She played one hell of a demented phsyco who is really,really sick in the head.Other than that,I can say..that this is one of the worst movies that I've watched..ever.though,seeing darren's reaction was really entertaining for both Joey and I :D

(I know you like the movie joey..but I'm still sticking with the "never wanting to watch horror/thriller movie" thing.)

Going down the escalator and watching darren bowl...was equally amusing.Joey and I were ever so supportive.(chants:"go darren" "whoa!so pro already!")

Though,after a few times of saying that..we realized that the more we said it..the more it entered the "longkang".after a few...*cough* experiments....it seemed mostly true.

Though,I enjoyed their company alot watching the movie and playing bowling.Even when we entered and left Borders and the alarm went off,even though we didn't take or steal or buy anything.

GI Joe and Up was much better in comparison to Orphan.Less,disturbing,more funny.Me likey. I'll never watch horror or thriller movies again if I can help it.I'm too cowardly.

Ice skating was awesome!

Would have been better if Xiechiang and Connie came along with us.
Would have been even better if I had managed to push horny sifu and made him fall.
Would have been perfect had I not fall thanks to the same horny sifu and had a picture of it taken by Marc.(evil)

Anyway,I had a wonderful time ice skating and watching the movie with all of them.It was fun.Shall we do it again at the end of the year?XD

And last but not least,I Love You Beth Cooper..which I watched with my darling,sweet sister.
If you're up for a funny,perverted,slightly violent,hilarious teenagers making a fool of themselves..watch this.

It was a sisters only outing where I had oh so mouth watering doughnuts and window shopped a little. We talked about silly things and laughed.typical,but fun.

Anyway,I really enjoyed all the outings and I wouldn't mind going out with all of then again. A little cheesy, I know.
